Nikko

I have finally, thanks to some cancelled lessons, caught up with all my editing. This is the last lot of photos which were waiting to be sorted, from my day trip to Nikko on Sunday. We got the Shinkansen again, love those trains, they're SO fast.

Due to arriving in Nikko a little later than we'd intended, we got a taxi up the mountain, which I think was exactly the right way around to do things. Walking back down wasn't difficult but walking UP would have been a bit tiring.

The shrines and temples are really impressive but it was difficult to fully appreciate them, the whole place was really busy thanks to it being Golden Week. I really think it's the woods they're tucked away in that make the place as magical as it is. The trees are huge and the moss covering all the walls and rocks made everything look like a movie set, just too beautiful to be real.

This, believe it or not, was lunch. We struggled to find somewhere selling food and ended up just buying what was right in front of us so we didn't waste any more time.
