Showa Kinen Koen

Japan is obviously famous for it's cherry blossom season in the spring but the autumn colours here are just as impressive a display and also around for a very short time. Autumn 2014 was the first time I really got to experience the full effect.

Me and Alice headed out to Showa Kinen Koen, east of Tokyo, and the weather was pretty depressing when we first arrived. We were rewarded for making the trip out though because it started to turn and by the time the sun was getting low in the sky the park lit up like something out of a Lord of the Rings movie, it was incredible.

I really couldn't narrow down the selection much more than this, I took a LOT of photos that day, the light was really indescribable. There was a generous sprinkling profanities any time we did try to speak.

San'ya, Tokyo

San'ya is an area in Tokyo that's not supposed to exist any more. If you google you can find directions on how to get there but it's not on any maps and I don't think you'd get an answer if you asked a local where it is.

After exploring the area for a bit we got some lunch in Ueno and then headed back into Tokyo and saw some art. It was a good day.
