I've been in Japan for a little under 5 months now and last weekend I ticked a big one off my to-do list by climbing Mt. Fuji.
We were a group of six, all from the Ayamekai Aikido group. We set off on Friday morning, getting a coach from Tokyo out to the 5th station on the mountain. From there, we set off for the 8th station which we reached just before 19:00. We rested and adjusted to the altitude for about 5 hours before heading for the summit which we reached at about 02:30 on Saturday.
