Backstreets and Shrines around Shibuya
You barely have to turn a corner in some parts of Tokyo to end up someplace that feels totally different. Around the back of a line of tall buildings are the tatty rear sides and what looks like an empty canal. Down a short street and up a flight of stairs and you can find yourself in a bizarrely quiet and peaceful shrine.
Wanderings around Tokyo
I started in Akihabara and ended up somewhere in Naka Meguro in a cafe called Brownie that disappointingly didn't have brownies but it did have excellent cheesecake and chocolate cake and coffee so they are forgiven.
